Hi all! We have been keeping busy here in the Simbeck Household. As you have all probably noticed there hasn’t been much posting.
Well, I have been working 3 jobs (my regular job, teaching at CCAC and doing some development on the side). Kaylea has been trying to hold down the fort (she is going a great job, although she might not believe me).
On a bit of a whim she decided to take the flying leap and see if we were in a position to purchase a house. Guess what! We were! And we are!
So we started looking, we found a great morgage person and a great real estate agent, and saw a few great homes, some not so great homes, and fantasized about a few we could never afford (we can dream can’t we?).
We made an offer, had it accepted, we have gotten through most of our contengiencies in about 5 days. All that is left is for the morgage to get finished up (I think those are the right words) and with a dash of luck, we will close at the end of the month.
For those interested, the house is in West Mifflin (the only bad part is no FIOS).
Things here in the Simbeck household are moving right along. Since September, we have had water poured in our car’s gas tank, Kaylea had a giant kidney stone, and of course Halloween with lots of great Patrick pictures.
Also, I am going to be teaching in the spring again at CCAC South, which is great news!
Dispite the bad news, and inconviences we are all doing well, and getting ready for the holidays. Below are a just a few of the great photo’s we have taken over the last two months. Also Patrick’s fall school pictures looked great and we can’t wait for the Christmas ones to come in the coming week!
So I have been on a blogging vacation lately. I use to post monthly updates with pictures and all. I have been a bit lax to say the least.
So what has been going on… lots. We went on vacation to Kaylea’s family home in the Pocono’s, then to her father’s house. From there we went took Patrick to his first real amusment park (Dutch Wonderland), and his first ride on a steam train (Strousburg Railroad). We relaxed, and had a great time.
I am now teaching at CCAC on Thursday evenings. I was hired right after we got back from Vacation to teach Intro to Programming at the West Mifflin Campus. In addition I am still working at my full time job, and working on smaller projects with friends.
Earlier this summer we saw Dinosaurses at the Carneige Museaum, and visited with family. I have posted a small sample of our pictures below. You can see the rest at http://bsimbeck.smugmug.com.
Well, we have a new look! Look for more frequent updates in the future, too.
Things have been very hecktic around the Simbeck Household over the last few months. In Novemeber we all partipated in the Greater Philidelphia Chapter of the ALS Association’s Walk to D’Feet ALS. Our team PopPop’s Patrol raised over $5,000. We also had a bit of tragity in November as well. On November 21st Kaylea’s Grandfather lost his battle with ALS, as one might expect it cast a bit shadow over the holiday season, however we did our best and pulled through.
Patrick had a wonderful Christmas away from home. We spent Christmas with Kaylea’s family, and while it is always a lot of running, we all had a great time, and got lots of great gifts.
The new year brought about many new things for all of us. My company has moved from just outside of Pittsburgh, to just inside the city. This puts me about 10 minutes closer to Kaylea’s work and Patrick’s daycare.
Kaylea has just started into a new position at her work, which hasn’t been without its challenges. And all of this then comes with a new schedule which is working out well for us.
The last big change this year is that I have been elected President of the Board for Project PCOS. Project PCOS is a non-profit organsation that I help found last year with my friends Ashley Tabeling, Linda Harvey, Tarra Hartl and Tammy Dolak. We also have an old friend from another PCOS organsation we use to work with on our board too Stephine Crites.
There are many exciting things going on, keeping us busy so we will do our best to keep you updated. I have posted some pictures of the holidays as well as some more recent ones below. As always you can find all of our pictures in our photo gallery
So, we just had Patrick in for this 9 month appointment, and aside from what we thing is allergies, he is perfectly healthy. Here is the vital statistics:
19 lbs 7 oz in weight
28 1/4 inches long
They offered a developmental delay screening, and we took it and he is pretty much ahead of the curve. He has started crawling, and trying to stand up. He loves the pool or any standing body of water for that matter.
And now without futher ado, some pictures of Patrick for your viewing enjoyment. The rest can be found here.
Patrick rolled over and sat, and had a 4 month check up. He is in good health and his ear infection has cleared up completely. He is 15lbs 8oz, and 24.5 inches long. He got four immunizations, but nothing he hasn’t had already. He will have his next check up in 2 months (at his 6 month birthday). I have some pictures of him sitting up, and I will post them later. In the meantime here is a short video of Patrick rolling over.
I found a new tool for our website that allows you to subscribe and make my job of letting you know about he family news much easier. If you would like to subscribe, click on “Subscribe to Our Site” on the right.
He arrived at 11:00am on September 11, 2006. He weighted in at 9 pounds 6 ounces and measures 21 inches long. Everyone is doing well. Patrick has been eating well and had visits from his Grandma and Grandpap, and daddies friend Laurene.
I have included some pictures below. The rest are available here.
